A year ago Cannon & Cannon, Inc. (CCI) launched it’s 20th Anniversary. Angie Cannon, CEO, reminded everyone how CCI got started on February 4, 1996 with a folding table in a spare bedroom of Angie and Harold’s house. She reminisced how they fired up their old 286 computer and they were ready to go! To celebrate we brought in our own 286 computer to the office…
thankful for 20 years
It is crazy to think back to the starting of Cannon & Cannon in 1996…fast forward to today and CCI has around 50 employees with offices in Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis, Tennessee, as well as Bowling Green, Kentucky. CCI feels very blessed for the friends, family and community that have been a part of the company’s journey and evolution.
To show our appreciation and thanks, CCI wanted to give back to the community through volunteering time as a company and as individuals. Here is how some of that time was spent this past year:
One of the Company events we did together was a Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build. What an amazing experience we had helping Adrienne reach her goal of becoming a homeowner. Working alongside her and her mother made the day so much fun!
On 2 different days we had a van of employees head to Boone, NC to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse to process shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. After taking a tour of Samaritan’s Purse headquarters, they packed several crates of shoeboxes to be sent all over the world!
Stem scouts camp
Of course we love the idea of promoting STEM education at a young age for both boys and girls! Many of our engineers were able to participate in the STEM Scouts Camp offered locally. This year the focus was on space and the day was full of rockets, developing communication and problem solving skills and building Mars colonies.
CCI walked in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JRDF) ONE 5k Walk to raise both awareness and funding for Type 1 diabetes. The walk was very close to employee’s hearts since many of them were walking in honor of Roby Shields, a dedicated employee who passed away last year due to complications with Type 1 diabetes. personal give back time
CCI also wanted to give employees time to give back to organizations they are already currently involved with. This included:
- Knox ProCorps
- Mobile Meals
- Volunteer East TN – Gatlinburg Relief Effort
- University of Tennessee Medical Center – NICU Department
- Young Marines
- Mission Trip to Indonesia
- Young Life
- Fellowship of Christian Athletes
- Great Smokey Mountain Institute at Tremont
CCI is excited to see what the next 20 years holds! Thank you for your support.
