ALAN L. CHILDERS, P.E.

Mr. Childers has more than 38 years of experience in the Civil Engineering profession, with primary emphasis in transportation and public works.  He has spent the past 27 years working as a consulting engineer in East Tennessee.  Prior to that he worked in Traffic Engineering with the City of Knoxville, the Florida Department of Transportation and Palm Beach County, Florida.  He has also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the University of Tennessee Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, teaching Traffic Engineering and the Geometric Design of Roadway and Community Facilities.  He also served as the author of the Roadside Design chapter of the “Urban Street Geometric Design Handbook,” published by the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
